Topography
Phuket is 867 kilometers in the south from the capital city, Bangkok, by the route number 4. This is the only island-province in Thailand consisting of 32 sub-islands, with a total area of 550.034 sq.km. (357,271.22 rai). The main island has a length of 47.8 kilometers, a width of 21.3 kilometers. Phuket is a continent-like island, namely an island located on the coast or nearby the mainland, it therefore has geological features comparable to the neighboring mainland.
The island area consists of mountainous slope, foothill plain and valley areas. Whereby 80 percent of the area is a mountainous area stretching along the north to the south. Most mountains are on the western side of the island, causing the coastal plains. The western side is narrow, while the north and northeast are the plateau with a short waterway flowing into the south and east. 30 percent of the area is a flat area, which is mostly in the middle of the east and west coast. The landscape of the soil is deep soil, loamy soil, clay loam and sandy loam soil. The lower soil consists of clay soil. The sandy loam soil, sandy clay. The top of the soil is sandy. The soil has low to medium fertility, which is well drained. The acidity of the soil is about 4.5-5.5. The soil is suitable for growing vegetables and fruits.
