2025 International Cities of Gastronomy Fest, Macao and the 2025 Macau International Gastronomy Promenade

Mr. Piboonsak Kittitornkun, Deputy Mayor of Phuket City Municipality, participated in the “2025 International Cities of Gastronomy Fest, Macao” and the 2025 Macau International Gastronomy Promenade, at the invitation of the Macao Government Tourism Office. On this occasion, the Deputy Mayor and his delegation presented and exchanged knowledge on gastronomy, cultural heritage, and creativity, while also promoting tourism in Phuket to the UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy Network.

Accompanying the Deputy Mayor were Ms. Nattawara Suttisatyaporn, Director of the Tourism and Sports Division, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tatiyaporn Jarumaneerat, Head of the Department of Management, Hospitality, and Business, Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism, Prince of Songkla University, Phuket Campus, who served as the international liaison and focal point, along with other relevant officials. The event was held in the Macao Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.

The forum aimed to provide a platform for the exchange of knowledge in gastronomy, cultural heritage, and creativity among cities in the UNESCO Creative Cities of Gastronomy Network, allowing representatives from each city to showcase their culinary expertise and cultural identity. Key activities included a Mayors’ and Focal Points Meeting, held from 11–14 July 2025, and the Macau International Gastronomy Promenade.

Participation in this forum is vital for fostering collaboration among city leaders and stakeholders. UNESCO requires member cities in the Creative Cities Network to report on their activities and participation at both local and international levels in accordance with its evaluation framework, which takes place every four years from the year of designation (Phuket was designated in 2015). Therefore, attending this forum contributes directly to the assessment indicators for the upcoming evaluation cycle (2024–2027).
