Participation in the Seminar “Learning, Sharing and Networking for the UNESCO GNLC and UCCN Membership” to strengthen networks of Learning Cities and Creative Cities

On 25 August 2025  Mr. Piboonsak Kittitornkun, Deputy Mayor of Phuket City Municipality, attended the seminar “Learning, Sharing and Networking for the UNESCO GNLC and UCCN Membership.” The event was presided over by Professor Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, together with Mr. Pichet Phophakdee, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, and partner representatives, including Ms. Marina Patrier, Deputy Director of UNESCO Bangkok, Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, Dr. Kraiyos Patrawart, Managing Director of the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), Mrs. Chotika Akkarajitsophakul, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Associate Professor Dr. Poon Thiengburanathum, Deputy Director of the Area-based Development Fund Management Unit (DAF), as well as representatives from ASEAN+8 embassies and members of Thailand’s GNLC and UCCN networks.

On this occasion, Phuket City Municipality presented an exhibition booth under the theme “Phuket: Learning City and Creative City,” with the participation of Ms. Natvara Suttisattyaporn, Director of the Division of Tourism and Sports, Dr. Panjaporn Chotikaew, Principal of Ban Bangneaw Municipal School, teachers, students, and officials of the Division of Tourism and Sports, at the Grand Ballroom, 4th Floor, Montien Riverside Hotel, Bangkok.

The program featured a wide range of activities, including keynote lectures by distinguished experts, academic panel discussions, case study presentations, exhibitions by network cities, and study visits in Bangkok. These activities aimed to provide participants with practical learning opportunities and foster concrete collaboration, supported by UNESCO in cooperation with multiple partners, namely the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), the Area-based Development Fund Management Unit (DAF), the Ministry of Culture, and UNESCO Bangkok.

Phuket City’s participation in this seminar contributes to strengthening its visibility and networks as both a Creative City and a Learning City at the national and international levels.
